We'd like to thank our member Viper550 for his work on the new forum banner. It should be consistent with new artwork for the upcoming SL 6.1 release. We hope you like it. smile.gif

I would put some space (not necessarily a full space, maybe a half space) between 'Scientific' and 'Linux' and 'Forum', it would make the name easier on the eye.

You might be right, but making the blue headers and buttons grey would make the forum appear too drab, I prefer the forum theme as it is.

I have to rely on my co-admininstrator and mods for some things, as I'm a little color blind. http://dl.dropbox.com/u/2835777/BangHead1.gif But, i have to agree. I can tell "Blue" and the banner to me looks like a dark bluish gray, so not far off...am I right? Maybe Redman will chime in here since he's done most of the forum's theme tweaking after I put it up "wholesale"...but from crew convo's it looks like we're going to leave the buttons, etc, as is. laugh.gif

For now the theme will remain as it is. Changing everything to be in sync with the new logo will remove all "colours" and making it less lively.

I like the logo myself, it's pretty good. The logo does sort of sync anyway with the black text.

QR code (also referred as scanner code) can be used to be scanned on your mobile phone.
The code added contains the URL of the forum. So easy access from your mobile phone.

Feel free to comment if you like or dislike it.

I find the QR a bit blantant, to be perfectly honest. Having the QR at the top left adjacent to the elegant minimalist logo is causing me to throw an conniption. Shifting it to the right ("float: right;") would fill up the blank space on the header and balance the logo on the left.

I agree, put it in the right corner.

A simple "like the idea but perhaps on the other side?" would have had the same result.
Current position was a simple way to introduce it and get peoples opinion (yes or no) before we rebuild the theme and have to decide it isn't going to be used.

But things have been changed as you can see wink.gif

Very nice, will be even better when I finish programming a proper mobile phone style for android/iphone on this forum software.

On another note, I have to admit I had no idea what it was when I saw it.

First thing I thought of when I saw it, had to mention it... it reminded me of Missingno from pokemon.

By the way, agree that having it in the empty space on the right side was a good idea.

I didn't know about QR codes, either, before I saw that here. Next day, I noticed one in an ad in the local newspaper.
