During a file copy, or trsh emptying the process hangs, and I have to log out to get it un-hung.
It sounds like permissions to me, but I am new to Scientific Linux, althought I have used Fedora for years I never had this exact problem ani I just need a bit of guidence.

Please give a little more info on the situation.
With which files from what directory/device does this happen?
Are they on a(ny) harddisk, USB stick, network share?
