After updating my SL6.1 box today and rebooting the
system mouse and keyboard were disable on the
GUI (run level 5) login screen. A quick:
# yum -y history undo xxx
removed the offenders and a look at the gdm log shows:

X.Org X Server 1.10.6
Release Date: 2012-02-10
X Protocol Version 11, Revision 0
.
.
.
(II) Module evdev: vendor="X.Org Foundation"
compiled for 1.7.7, module version = 2.3.2
(EE) module ABI major version (7) doesn't match the server's version (12)
(II) Unloading evdev
(EE) Failed to load module "evdev" (module requirement mismatch, 0)
(EE) No input driver matching `evdev'
(EE) config/hal: NewInputDeviceRequest failed (15)
.
.
blah blah blah same thing for keyboard, mouse, power switch ...
My question-- Is it possible that this update was intended for the 6.2 update stream?

i suppose yum can distinguish whether the working version os meets the prerequisite of an updating item, isn't it?
so further debugging of the latest Xorg server 1.10 may be necessary to confirm its transferability in multiple versions of sl, including 6.0 or later.
