Hello to all, I am a fan of Linux, have some experience with Mandrake circa 2005. I just go sick of Vista so I  installed Ubuntu 12.04 on my 6 year old Dell D610. I am amazed at the performance, and the ease of sottware installs. In my eyes Linux has come a long way.

You are very welcomed here, but I hope you do realise that this Forum is primarily dedicated to the Scientific Linux distro, not to Ubuntu?

Hi Josea,

You haven't broken any rules that I know of. You are just better off getting help from the forum that represents the operating system you are using.

With that said, this is how I would go about "fixing" the issue.
Try booting from a livecd, open a terminal and login as root. Use the command "blkid" to get the UUIDs of the partitions on your drive, mount the boot partition and edit grub with the correct UUIDs .

Hope this helps,

EDIT: You may have to edit the file fstab with the proper UUIDs also.
