Something made me recall the unusual number of high volume browser threads we've had on this board.

That made me wonder... do the admins here have any way of generating use statistics? Specifically, it would be interesting to see a page of just numbers and % of traffic hits. User agent, reverse domain (or just IP spectrum) or country or something, etc. I'm curious what percentage is people and what is bots. I'm also curious of the human visitors what user agents are being used, and of just the bots which bots hit the most.

No idea where to put this stuff other than another page that is linkable from the front or something, but its just an idea -- considering we've discussed browsers a huge amount in the past already, it might bring some context to those discussions.

Even those gigantically broad stats were pretty interesting. I wonder why the peak in June last year? Did a story about SL break around that time?

In June last year SL released SL 5.6 and SL 6.1 alpha2.
There was a lot to talk about wink.gif

That would explain it, I suppose... but I from my perspective minor versions are really non-events. I suppose those who like obsessing over Linux instead of simply putting their computing resources to work made a great deal of media confetti out of these events, though.

Oh yeah, I forgot: this would be cast in the somewhat pointless setting of SL vs CentOS -- and that would be great fun for the folks who make ad money splashing digital ink discussing surface issues.

Anyway... TYPHOON PARTY!

Topic has been stale for a bit, but...
I'm also curious about the browser stats and robot numbers. Any way we could get a peek at those? I'm particularly curious how many IE hits there are. (har har!)

The board doesn't log every hit or browser so that information isn't around. Would be interesting to see. I would have been able to pull it up but... yeah.
