Hi

I have a laptop (ACER 5755g) with a numeric keypad on the keyboard. At SL loading NUMLOCK is not memorized. sad.gif

Is there a setting in the GRUB configuration or SL?

Thank you for your answers biggrin.gif

Hello JeanM,

There is a setting for "Caps lock behavior" under the keyboard preferences if you use gnome. Go System > Preferences > Keyboard. On the keyboard preferences pop up window choose the Layout tab > Layout Options. That will bring up the keyboard layout options pop up where you will find the Caps lock behavior that can be set many different ways.

Hope this helps,

Hello Jean,

That was my fault, I misread your post and gave instructions for "Caps lock". http://www.madjacksports.com/forum/images/smilies/facepalm.gif

I am not sure how to set Number lock on by default. I will look into this for you and post back when I find a answer.

PS: No need to worry about your English, there are many of us here that English is not our first language, beside, you seem to do very well with english.

Best regards

Andrew

Hello again Jean,

You can set "numlock on" for GDM login by installing the package "numlockx" from rpmforge and editing the file "/etc/gdm/Init/Default" and add the following lines to the end of the file, but above the "exit 0" line:
CODE
if [ -x /usr/bin/numlockx ]; then
     /usr/bin/numlockx on
fi

So the end of the file looks like:
snippet of /etc/gdm/Init/Default:
CODE
fi

if [ -x /usr/bin/numlockx ]; then
     /usr/bin/numlockx on
fi

exit 0

Hope this helps
