Turns out not to just be that. Im now stuck as its stuck on the atom wallpaper.
- Hardware: Intel D510MO Atom ITX, 2GB RAM, SATA Disk/DVD. - Scientific Linux 6.2 - I want to use this linux to develop and app with an NI capture card. First problem was the failing hard drive. It would boot from USB stick but got stuck on the atom wallpaper. It wouldn't recognise the slim-DVD SATA adapter too so I updated the BIOS. This then turned into a whole mess of problems as Intel really screwed up a number of BIOSs for this board and made it so you cant go back. So now USB stick booting doesnt work and I couldnt use my slimline DVD due to the adapter. Ive borrowed a SATA DVD and downloaded the live DVD to a DVD, installed that which worked well apart from the kdump error Ive read (on this forum) isnt abnormal. So now im stuck with it on the desktop, where I presume a login GUI is supposed to be but all it displays is the background/wallpaper. Ive tried ctrl+alt+backspace as that normally kills it to command line but it restarts X and the wall paper reappears. Any ideas? |

Hi embeddedbob,
You can get to a console by pressing Ctrl + Alt + F2. From there you can login and troubleshoot the issue. Hope this helps, |
