"Free the fish" is a classic GNOME Panel easter egg.
Activating it is easy: press Alt+F2 and type "free the fish”. A small orange fish will swim across the screen and reappear every few minutes. If you click on fish, it will run away but you won’t be able to get rid of it. Searching the running processes won't help since Wanda hides very well  The only way to get rid of her is to restart gnome-panel (or logout and login):

That is a good one!
 There was a egg for GDM called"require quarter" or similar, that would say "Quarter Required" when you tried to login but I was unable to get that one to work with the newer GDM. Great distractions anyway!  |
