Can more packages be installed from DVD after minimal/text install?

I'm installing SL 6.1 on an x86_64 system with NVidia GeForce video chipset. This is my first time installing SL (or any TUV flavor), but thanks to this forum I've learned that there are some well-known issues with SL and nouveau/NVidia drivers, and it seems there's no obvious way to run the full graphical SL installer.

So I ran the basic video install and then downloaded and installed the native nvidia drivers per this post from redman.

Since the basic install only gives a minimal installation, what I'm wondering is, is there a way I can just run the package selection piece of the graphical install, or even use yum to install packages from the DVD, rather than having to download them all from the online repositories?

In my attempts to get a working full installation, I ended up downloading the Live DVD, the Install DVD, and the two "Everything" DVD's. Seems like a waste to use them for no more than a minimal install. Anyone else run into this?

Thanks very much, Andrew, that's exactly what I needed. Your guide was very easy to follow, and I've got my packages installed not without hogging up my home network for however many hours it would have taken! ~TRW
