Here is the official announcement:

QUOTE
Trinity Desktop Environment version 3.5.13 has been released! This version
provides significant enhancements to areas such as desktop security, GTK
application support, and general usability.

You will find a detailed list of upgrades and improvements to the Trinity
system here:
http://www.trinitydesktop.org/wiki/bin/view/Documentation/Releases_3_5_13

Installation instructions for Debian, Ubuntu, Fedora, RedHat, and
Slackware are available on the Trinity project home page:
http://www.trinitydesktop.org/

If you would like to compile Trinity from source instead of using the
prebuilt binaries, instructions are available here:
http://www.trinitydesktop.org/wiki/bin/view/Developers/HowToBuild
And the source itself can be downloaded from the main project Website at:
http://www.trinitydesktop.org/
Simply click on the 3.5.13 link on the lower left hand side of the screen.

Why upgrade from KDE3.5.10, the latest release available from KDE e.V.?
Simply put, Trinity is faster, more secure, and far more feature rich than
3.5.10 ever was! It incorporates the latest patches from multiple KDE
enhancement projects, such as OpenSUSE, Chakra, and Ubuntu.

If you do find a bug, please don't hesitate to report it to the project
bugtracker at
http://bugs.pearsoncomputing.net/

If you would like to connect with other Trinity users and/or developers,
or simply want to be informed of the latest updates to the Trinity system,
the official project mailing lists are available here:
http://www.trinitydesktop.org/mailinglist.php

This release was the result of collaboration between several open source
developers; their names are listed at
http://www.trinitydesktop.org/contributors.php
The Trinity project would like to thank them for their support!

If you like the Trinity project, why not donate to help keep it alive?
Your contributions help fund both the Trinity project infrastructure and
the development of new features. Details are available here:
http://www.trinitydesktop.org/donate.php

Be sure to let us know what you think of this release, and enjoy!

Timothy Pearson

NOTE: Binary packages are currently being uploaded to the worldwide mirror
system.  Sources are already available, however the binaries may take a
day or two to become available to all mirrors.

Yes, resurrected and with many bug fixes and adaptations to current Linux environments and other minor improvements.

The official mirrors currently still don't carry the binary rpms for RHEL6 (they had some mirroring issues), but the personal repo of the RHEL6 package maintainer is available here:
http://trinity.mangafrance.com/el6/
(beware the .repo file there actually points to the official mirrors which are still not updated, not to the personal repo, so if you want to use the repo file for the personal repo you will have to manually adapt it)

Actually the official mirrors are now up to date with the RHEL6 packages so TDE 3.5.13 can be installed following the procedure explained on the official web site:

QUOTE
1. Download the YUM configuration file corresponding to your distribution (as root user):
For RHEL 5 (v3.5.13)

cd /etc/yum.repos.d
wget http://ppa.quickbuild.pearsoncomputing.net/trinity/trinity/rpm/el5/trinity-3.5.13-el5.repo

For RHEL 6 (v3.5.13)

cd /etc/yum.repos.d
wget http://ppa.quickbuild.pearsoncomputing.net/trinity/trinity/rpm/el6/trinity-3.5.13-el6.repo

2. Install the Trinity desktop environment:

yum install trinity-desktop

3. (Optional) Install your locale translation package, e.g for French translation:

yum install trinity-kde-i18n-French

Note: you can obtain a list of available TDE packages with the following command:

yum search trinity-
http://www.trinitydesktop.org/installation.php#redhat

I just installed TDE on one of my SL6 PCs and I'm very positively impressed by it.

Everything I tried works fine and anyone who enjoyed KDE 3.5 will feel right at home with TDE!

Also it feels faster than Gnome (not to mention KDE4) on my humble Atom D525 based SL6.1 box.

http://th166.photobucket.com/albums/u117/rdshear/Smiley%20Faces/th_smiley-face-thumbs-up.gif A big thumbs up to the TDE team!

One suggestion for anyone installing it on SL6.x:

Edit the trinity-3.5.13-el6.repo file and disable the extras repos, as those aren't needed on SL6.x. They contain some dependencies that are missing in RHEL6 but are included in SL6 (gtk1.2 and some other libs).

Here is a great informative review of TDE on SL6. I wonder if the writer of that review is a fellow SLforum user?

A quick note to the Mods/Admins:

Can you please move this thread to the "3rd party repos" subforum as I believe it belongs there? Thanks!

Although it can be argued that this item could be put in other subforums too,
I have moved it to the "3rd party thingy " laugh.gif
