I am a novice and installed Scientific Linux 5.1 (2.6.18-53.1.4el5). Now, I want to access internet using USB 3g stick. Already tried reading many forums but not successful yet.....
Steps I have done : 1) Downloaded and untared: usb-modeswitch-1.2.4.tar 2) Copied file usb_modeswitch.conf to /etc usb_modeswitch to /usr/bin 3)lsusb ; on running shows along with other bus: Bus 001 Device 002: ID 1c9e:f000 Now usb_modeswitch.conf file doesnt show modem vendor or product info. On one of the link : http://www.draisberghof.de/usb_modeswitch/ I get to know that automatic serial driver assignment will work with the 3G-optimized driver only for kernels from 2.6.27 and up. Please guide me the steps and necessary rpms (if missing) to setup the internet. Thanks in advance ! -------------------- |
