Someone just asked me if there is a RSS feed for the SL forums. I do not see it here, so am asking if it can be added. RSS is indeed a handy feature.

These forums do have RSS feeds but they are kind of crappy... not sure what browser you use but if you go into a forum itself, you should see the option to subscribe somewhere. If not, this forum's RSS feed is:
http://scientificlinux.b1.jcink.com/backend.php?feedforums=13 And the announcement forum: http://scientificlinuxforum.org/index.php?showforum=10 |

Thank you for the answer. I have forwarded it to the person who asked about it.

Have you actually looked at it? It looks very incomplete to me and therefore basically useless. It just contains a few random posts from the last 12 months. I'm only mentioning it because I noticed it, I don't really care about a RSS feed so this isn't a problem for me. -------------------- My personal SL6 repository, specialized in audio/video software: http://pkgrepo.linuxtech.net/el6/

I use a feed reader, usually Liferea for things like Techzilla (when I'm bored and want my brain to fall asleep)...but I can see the usefulness of checking changes.
JCink: Is this something that is inherent in the software you're using? PS: JC is providing this forum server gratis so I'm not complaining -------------------- DΞLL Precision M6700: 17 inch NB//i7-quad w/USB 3.0, 16.0GB, Quadro K5000M 2.0GB DDR3, RGBLED //W8P64/Scientific Linux 6.4 x64

I'm sorry, second link to the announcement forum was supposed to be this:
http://scientificlinux.b1.jcink.com/backend.php?feedforums=10 Each forum has a feed like this. You just have to subscribe to it there. But it's crappy in a sense that you can't get a feed of the whole board and for a few other reasons :\ joutlan: yes, though it's my fault. I actively maintain and develop the forum software and RSS was just an afterthought; it hasn't been touched in a long time. I am planning on making it better soon. |
