I am trying to install cmake version 3.3 onto my computer with scientific linux. Using yum install cmake I get version 2.8 which won't work for what I need. When I follow instructions here https://cmake.org/install/ it seems to work but if I try to use cmake it says "command not found."
I have no idea why it's not working any help is greatly appreciated!

Hi,
not sure if still relevant, but you can try:

1. download precompiled binary and untar it:
cmake3.6

2. untar/unzip it:
CODE

cd /to-folder-where-you-saved-it
tar -xzvf cmake-3.6.0-rc4-Linux-x86_64.tar.gz

3. run it:
CODE

cd /to-folder-where-you-saved-it/cmake-3.6.0-rc4-Linux-x86_64/bin

./cmake-gui
