Set up a pc with scientific linux v6.7 that would only install with the basic video driver (the std install would just give a blank screen part way through install).
The install went fine using the basic graphics but the user tried to increase the screen resolution and now the Linux pc has only a black screen after starting.
I am not an experienced linux installer or user but I want to avoid having to re install every time the user tries to increase the screen resolution, is there a way to get beyond the black screen and reset the graphics?

Thank you

My work colleague found a great solution...simply rename the existing (broken) xorg.conf file to xorg.conf.old after a restart the system then uses the default settings and works allowing you to have graphics.
