Dear All,

I have never used Scientific Linux, but I would like to know if it is a good idea (useful) to build a Beowulf cluster.

I have experience with Rocks Linux (http://www.rocksclusters.org/wordpress/) , a distro very helpful (and easy) to build and handling a beowulf cluster, but the updates are not so fast and the last release contains a lot of bugs.

So, I just want to know if SL has some facilities (like rocks) in order to use it (build a node for example) as well as Rocks Linux has.

Thanks.

I'm no expert but if your wanting to build a cluster I would suggest maybe Arch Linux instead since its a pretty much bare-bones distro, which in my opinion would give you a nice clean slate to build what you need without having to deal with all the stuff you don't.
