The NI-VISA driver by National Instruments will not work unless you pass "mem=4096M" as kernel boot parameter (or a lower value). This seems fairly well established, and it certainly works for me. My only complaint is that I end up getting only around 2.3 GB of memory in use. Is this unavoidable, giver my specific hardware, or is there anything I can do about it?

I'm using a Lenovo T500 laptop.

Edit: I also have a Lenovo Ideapad S205. In that case I end up with 3 GB of usable memory.
