Hi, dear friends, this is my first how to, it's about make work the CanoScan N340P scanner's full features
1.- Enter in the bios and put this settings on io devices;
CODE
Parallel ports===> 378/IRQ7
Parallel port mode===>ECP+EPP
EPP mode select===>1.7
ECP mode use DMA===>1

2.- We will edit
CODE
/etc/modprobe.d/options
or create, then we add the next line:

CODE
options parport_pc io=0x378 io_hi=0x778 dma=1

3.- Install
CODE
xsane
from repos and
CODE
libieee1284-*

4.- We add our user to
CODE
lp, scanner groups

5.-We give permission
CODE
chmod -R 777 .xsane

6.- We edit
CODE
/etc/sane.d/dll.conf

CODE
{uncomment} canon_pp

7.-Now we edit /etc/sane.d/canon_pp.conf
NEVER PUT {comment} or {uncomment}
CODE

{comment} #force_nibble
{uncomment} FB630P (11001100 style.. also works for FB330P, N340P, N640P)
{uncomment} init_mode AUTO parport0
optional
{comment} #init_mode AUTO parport0
{uncomment} init_mode FB630P parport0

8.- Reboot then try xsane as root if it works try as user. If it's working as root and doesnt as user verifies the permissions and the groups

9.- Enjoy

PD:
Scanner's device name
CODE
parport0
