I have found myself unable to run minecraft after installing the nVidia proprietary drivers. I get the following error:

Yes, that's what I was checking. The elrepo packages ONLY support the distro kernel, not add on kernels (such as the elrepo kernels - confusing, I know!)

I know this thread has grown old but have you (bloxgate) had any luck getting MC to run yet. On a fresh install of SL7 I pulled Jave and MC in and after a few false starts is fired up and ran quite well. So far SL7 is the best I seen at hosting OpenGL. I am on AMD hardware so I may have gotten a boost there. In the past I have seen OpenGL running on older NV cards like the 7300GS.
