Hi All,

I have a slight problem with my newly installed SL 6.3 box (HP XW4600, 6GB RAM, nVidia Quaddro FX1700 graphics).

Under the default nouveau driver, the screen blanks every 5-6 seconds. I don't know why, but when I go to init 3, the screen actually turns off for a second or so every 5-6 seconds.

It is incredibly annoying, but I can't connect the system to the internet (due to company policies being anal about Open Source software) to download the nVidia drivers from ELrepo.

Am I correct in thinking that I can just download the two latest .rpms from ELrepo, copy them to a USB stick and then install them from there?

Do I do the kmod first and then the nvidia driver rpm?

Many thanks,

Download the following rpm's into a directory:

nvidia-x11-drv-32bit (only if your OS is 64-bit and you need 32-bit compatibility)

and installed them all by a 'yum install *.rpm' .
