I'm having a very special problem. Please help me.....
I installed SL 6.2 on external USB hard drive.
Now it is taking 2-3 minutes in booting when it is connected through USB of desktop. BUT it is taking very long time in booting when it is connected through USB of LENEVO G430 laptop. Some time I have to use F4 and F5 buttons for fast booting.
Plz help me...

my exp. with running SL6 from an usb has been a nightmare. while running the usb did you yum update at all? i did and evey time after a update it would break. i read somewhere that adding to much to a usb system will cause it to break.
not saying issue solved just a thought.

this is a INSTALL and NOT a live image on the usb drive ? right?
did you "install" it to the usb from the desktop ?
With SL like CentOS being rebuilds of RHEL
laptop support is very limited
not all the hardware is supported
in particular the "built in 3d chips"
and the CPU/GPU combinations and NOT supported well , if at all .
if you "installed " it to the usb on the desktop , then it is configured for the DESKTOP hardware
and NOT for the laptop hardware .
so the boot on the laptop WILL need to time out ( 5 min. is the default) for every service that can not be started do to the change in hardware
a 1 hour long boot might be normal
if you are going to move the usb drive from a desktop to a laptop
use a LIVE iso and use the CURRENT 6.4
SL6.2 is a bit OLD
the 32 bit SL 6.4 LIVE dvd iso
