I recently lost sound in all my players (vlc, mplayer etc etc) after gxine crashed on file and froze the system, needing a hardware-switchoff & reboot. After playing around quite a bit, mostly in the dark, the sound has become 'magically' restored.
Similar has occurred previously and crashing about in the dark is getting tedious, especially when I have not interfered with system stuff at all -- (no updates or new multi-media installs etc). Does anyone know how I might try making a mini-backup of the good sound settings (while they are good)? Even a partial backup would be useful as 'diffs' could be examined and eliminate some of the too many possibilities or give clues as to a less time-wasting critical path for enquiry. cheers |
