Greetings,

I have a Logitech Clear Chat Comfort USB headset. The volume for the headset is very low, even when boosted to the maximum setting past %100. It worked fine in Fedora 16. Probably a bug, but I thought I would check here first.

Fedora 16 uses newer kernels than RHEL6/SL6 (which are based on Fedora 12 + a bit of Fedora 13).
So I doubt there is a bug, but most likely you are suffering from a platform that is becoming old-ish.
You could try a newer kernel (there are topics on that subject here) to see if that solves it.

Hi there,
stumbled here a bit late, but before installing new kernel and such, i'd try first to not use gui tools and use pure 'old' alsamixer command from cli.

when you have your headset plugged to your laptop run from cli:

CODE

alsamixer

At right top corner of window you see help menu - it should be F6 to choose the device, then lef <-> right arrows on keyboard to the headphone and then up and down arrows to adjust volume.

you can save your settings with (must be root for this though)
CODE

alsactl store

cheers,
