Scientific Linux Forum.org > Announcements > HTTPS Browsing

Posted by: John Cuppi Apr 18 2017, 02:11 AM
Today, we have enabled HTTPS browsing capability to scientificlinuxforum thanks to the Let's Encrypt project.

You can access it via:

https://scientificlinuxforum.org/

You will notice that even though you are browsing via https, the browser may warn you that the "connection is not secure" -- this is because of images such as avatars and theme items that are hosted externally. We will be working to get all of the theme images onto HTTPS in the coming weeks, but the important thing is that the forum's login contents are no longer being transmitted in plain text. In due time we'll be forcing HTTPS on this forum as well for the betterment of your security, but for now, you can continue to access SLF via HTTP.

Sincerely,
John Cuppi (Forum Hosting Provider)
